CUBANA SHEFFIELD WEDDING

SHEFFIELD CITY WEDDING, 11.8.19

This Cubana Sheffield wedding is right up there with one of the most interesting celebrations I’ve ever had the pleasure of attending. From the moment I met up with the couple at Amy’s parents house in Sheffield I was made to feel very welcome and valued. I was invited along to La Vaca in Broomhill for the traditional Nigerian post wedding celebration, known as ‘the Introduction’. It was such a nice experience to witness and capture the Nigerian customs which included sharing of presents and the exchange of marriage proposals from each family.

Babs had injured his knee playing football and turned up on crutches. I was informed by Amy that he shouldn’t have been attempting to roll back the years just a couple of weeks before his wedding. Babs made up for it on the day by having a beautiful case of Clos19 Champagne delivered to Amy, and he happily hobbled around the Sheffield streets, even though he was clearly in pain.

The ceremony was held at the stunning Sheffield Town Hall which brought back fond memories as it’s where we got married four years ago. After the ceremony we headed over Cubana Tapas Bar. I’ve always been a fan of Cubana Bar and the set-up for this wedding was incredible with the whole venue booked out exclusively for guests. The guests ‘relished’ the day, with the help of @hendersonsrelish, and the tapas food was delicious.

There is something special about urban weddings and capturing new chapters in people’s lives against the old architectural delights of the city. I have so many favourite photos from this day, it’s hard to narrow it down.

The atmosphere throughout the night was electric with lots of dancing and another tradition is to throw money (not coins thankfully) at the Bride and Grooms during the first dance. It was an unforgettable day with truly wonderful people in such a cool venue.
